Abstract:
1 September 1985 will be a date remembered in the history of health care in New Zealand. It was on this day that the Northland Area Health Board was formed, the first one of its kind in this country. The time leading up to and since that day has been busy, sometimes difficult, but always exciting, as planning for change in nursing progressed to meet the challenges presented by the new organization.
