Abstract:
In June 1985 I was appointed Nurse Researcher, Nelson Hospital on a part time basis of thirty two hours per week. Previous to this I had spent five years as Charge Nurse of a medical ward. Having completed my DHA (Massey) in 1977 and continuing study toward a B.A. (Nursing Studies) I saw a challenge in breaking new ground in nursing locally – nursing research as an acceptable part of paid employment.
