Abstract:
The first meeting to set up the Nurses Union was held on the 24th August 1972. Branches had been set up in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch. Mrs. Margaret Bazley, now deputy chairperson of the State Services Co9mmission, was appointed chairperson. A union register was commenced with approximately 200 members as required by the Industrial Relations Act on the 2nd April 1973. Continued…
