The New Zealand Nurses Union 

The first meeting to set up the Nurses Union was held on the 24^th August 1972.  Branches had been set up in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch.  Mrs. Margaret Bazley, now deputy chairperson of the State Services Co9mmission, was appointed chairperson.  A union register was commenced with approximately 200 members as required by the Industrial Relations Act on the 2^nd April 1973.  Continued…
