Abstract:
Introduction
Public Health Nurses in inner city Auckland are seeing increasing hardship due to deteriorating rental accommodation, high rents, overcrowding and lengthy stays in unhealthy conditions. They see housing as a primary health care issue. In discussion with the Auckland housing network of which the author is a member, they decided to undertake a pilot survey on the possible links between substandard housing and poor health. The housing network is a national coalition of groups concerned with housing issues.
