Abstract:
Introduction
Dodd (1986) identified the need for radical improvement in pain management and Murphy (this issue) reinforces the case. The General Surgical Department’s project described by Murphy made it amply clear how large the deficit was in nursing staff knowledge, prompting me to develop a similar project within the Orthopaedic Nursing Service during 1987. The project lasted from February to November. The process followed is outlined below.
