Abstract
The following article was originally presented as a paper at the first Psychiatric Nurses Conference in Wellington in 1988.  The authors describe the development and functioning of a Psychiatric Liaison Team within a general hospital setting using a burns unit as an example to demonstrate the consultancy and advisory roles.
