In 1992 the Proposed Clinical Career Pathway for Nurses of the (then) Canterbury Area Health Board (CAHB) was transformed from a theoretical model to a reality. Forty seven Registered Nurses tested the framework and Patricia Benner’s (1984) relevance to the everyday world of clinical nursing practice.
